GEORGIA DISASTER RELIEF FUND
In 1994, the Worthy Grand Matron at the time, saw the effect of the devastating flood that killed 31 people in Georgia and destroyed more than one billion dollars in property in south Georgia. She appointed a committee to seek ways to help and assist for our Georgia members who were in need of aid.
In 1996 the Georgia Disaster Relief Fund became a permanent fund for the Grand Chapter of Georgia. The purpose of this fund is to financially assist members with immediate needs due to a catastrophic disaster such as flood, tornado, hurricane, earthquake and/or fire, while they wait for government and/or insurance assistance. Additionally, the Committee has the authority to provide assistance to other Grand Jurisdiction whose members have suffered loss due to natural disasters.
Donations to this fund are always appreciated since we cannot predict when the next disaster will occur. One of our members could become homeless at an unexpected time and this committee wants to be ready to respond immediately when needed.
Any member in Georgia who is in need of financial assistance due to a disaster may request a Disaster Relief Form from the Disaster Relief Committee chairperson or the Grand Secretary of Georgia.
